When you’re in Boston for business, you want to get to your meeting, convention, or trade show fast, with minimal fuss. That means being smart about where you stay, which is why many savvy business travelers opt for Newbury Guest House, a short walk from the Hynes centers and perfectly situated with access to the Prudential Office Tower. Being just a few steps from your destination puts you in control of your time and transportation; and since Newbury Guest House sits in one of the nation’s most picturesque historic districts, your “commute” might just be the best part of your day.
Walk to Hynes Convention Center from Newbury Guest House in three minutes.
Known for its vast space and state-of-the-art meeting and tech services, Hynes Convention Center boasts 176,480 square feet of exhibit space and can host as many as four large events simultaneously, making it the Back Bay’s top convention and business destination. In 2021 it attracted more than 300 events and 832,243 attendees. While it’s perhaps most known as a venue for many medical profession gatherings, it’s also host to large and varied roster of events, from Anime Boston and the Harvard Model United Nations to the Boston Marathon Expo and (our personal favorite) the Boston Travel & Adventure Show.
Lunch break tip: Since the Hynes Convention Center is connected to Boston’s renowned Prudential Center, sneaking out for some of the city’s best shopping is almost too easy to do.
Walk to the Back Bay Events Center in under 15 minutes
The historic – and newly renovated – Back Bay Events Center has been completely updated with slick lighting design, fine contemporary art from the deCordova Museum, and the latest audiovisual and sound systems.
The Back Bay Events Center hosts music acts and theatrical productions from all over the world in its 1,000-seat theater (and offers full box office services), but also features a vast ballroom and multiple breakout rooms for special events, meetings, trade shows and conferences.
Lunch break tip: Take in the nearby John Hancock Tower, New England’s tallest building, or Trinity Church, one of its oldest and most beautiful.
Get to the Boston Convention and Exposition Center from Newbury Guest House on the “T”
If business takes you to the Boston Convention and Exposition Center, Newbury Guest House is still a great option; you can access the hustle and bustle of downtown Boston without having to try parking, sleeping, or relaxing in it. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (i.e., the “T”) Silver Line gets you to BCEC’s South Boston waterfront location – and your Back Bay stop is a four-minute walk from our front door.
Even if the BCEC wasn’t one of the largest exhibition centers in the Northeastern United States, you couldn’t miss it; the modern, glass-lined building encloses 2.1 million square feet of space and a 40,020-square-foot ballroom with stunning views of the waterfront. Among the many events happening there this year alone are the Progressive New England Boat Show, Seafood Expo North America, the New England Food Show, the Boston National College Fair, the MBA Tour Summer Conference, and Fan Expo Boston.
Lunch break tip: Grab a lobster roll, chowder, and other Boston specialties at a local Harborside seafood joint like Row 34, Legal Seafood, or The Barking Crab and people-watch to your heart’s content.
Boston is one of the nation’s top destinations for conventions and trade shows, and that’s on top of the 20-million-plus tourists who visit each year – that’s a lot of people who need hotel rooms. If you plan to be one of them, book your stay at Newbury Guest House now. Getting to your meeting is a cinch, and you’ll return to a warm, inviting boutique hotel where you can unwind with a glass of wine by the fireplace and celebrate a hard day’s work with an intimate French dinner right next door at La Voile. At Newbury Guest House, the only thing easier and more pleasant than getting to your meeting from your hotel is coming back to your hotel.
